what I’ve created –

what I’ve listened to –

quote I liked –

“I was naked and they are shooting me and nothing was happening. It was not just psychological, it was the means of displaying my power. When I’m naked I disappear faster, when I’m naked I activate my spiritual powers faster than when I had on clothes. So that was why I was naked.”

“Be confident, be brave, be good.” — a five year old girl I met

“This is the kind of place I dreamed of in solitary”

what I discovered –

  • Changing your headlights is not as difficult as imagined and feels rewarding.
  • Hosting an exclusive screening for your film is immensely rewarding and different than I expected. Always invite friends and family.
  • Work with close friends at every opportunity you can. Life is too short to enjoy the sweet moments of long days together.
  • Of all the places I’ve tattooed anyone, the chest seems to be the most painful by a long shot. Sorry Zach.
  • Shooting with car mounts is not as difficult as it seems and results are incredible.
  • Tel-Wink Grille is a stellar spot for food, people watching, vibes, and kind hosts. 10/10 would recommend.
  • Rural west Texas has rich natural beauty and even more dense culture and vibe, I’d recommend the Pecos River Rest stop, the town of Langtry, Monahans Sandhills state park, the Calera Chapel, and the trans-mountain road picnic area in El Paso.
  • Le Cafe Du Sud in Las Vegas has a really good salmon egg Benedict.

what I wouldn’t try again –

Be careful about finding the difference between hard work and all consuming work. No thing or work (however enjoyable it may be) is worth the cost of relationship with friends, family, your woman, or your relationship with yourself.

Check if your roommate keeps a loaded Glock on his pillow cause you never know.

An old police Tahoe is not a comfortable car to drive nor purchase.

Triple check that you have the correct cables needed to sync timecode on a multi camera shoot.

how life is beautiful –

Helping a Ninja Gym open and getting to host an open gym night with my friends was a gift and fun to show a bit of my “home” with those who’ve known me years.

Buying coffee and plants and designing plants with my brother and slow Saturday devotionals with my woman are incredibly life-giving.

Eating at Chuys, Yo-Yo’s, Fat Bao, the POST, and other spots in Houston with my best friend from CA was rich and so fun to give him the tour.

Impulsively driving to Las Vegas to cheer on my sister on Ninja Warrior with my girlfriend was an incredible trip and so worth the lack of sleep. I am a very rich man.

Spending time with men who have lived through lots of seasons and life and learning from their successes and failures over the course of a week was an incredible experience and one I’ll never forget. I don’t know what 15years of solitary confinement or what solving a 30 year long serial murderer case is like but I’m grateful to have become good friends with a man who has transformed his pain and has become a beacon of light to all those who meet him and a man who has always held fast in the midst of heavy storms. I’ve now not only discovered who my heroes are but I get to call them my friends and men I look up to.
